Sharing  the stories of Burkinabé mothers while explaining the value of Pesinet’s life-saving service through short animations and videos.

Why we care: Visual media is key for raising awareness among illiterate mothers on the benefits of investing in preventative health which is not easily understood by families.

How we’re solving this: Pesinet is bringing on board a rich media expert who will work pro bono on the ground Ouagadougou for a month to produce these essential communication tools. We just need you to help us get him here!

In Burkina Faso, a country where 1 in 6 children does not reach the age of 5, too many mothers have had the terrible experience of losing a child. And yet the reality is that the majority of these deaths could be prevented. The Pesinet team has made it their mission to act upon this fact, through its innovative mobile health service for young children.

Pesinet has been operating this service since 2010 in Mali, and has just launched its first pilot program in Burkina Faso. Although the project now has a track record as a proven intervention, a well-designed service is only as good as the number of people it can reach. Having served 1,600 children in Mali since the launch of the current program, we hope to have double that number of children in Burkina Faso before 2016.

In order to reach the greatest number of mothers possible, Pesinet is in desperate need of rich media tools to spread the word about its life-saving service for children!

Zane Bridgers is a freelance filmmaker, editor and expert in whiteboard animation. He has created film and animation spots for a wide array of private firms, filmed and edited prestigious public events, and even done documentary work in Africa. Zane has volunteered a month of his time to travel to Ouagadougou and work pro bono for Pesinet to create a documentary on the launch and other rich media tools to help educate our mothers.

Zane will produce 2 deliverables using the footage he captures in Burkina Faso:

  1. A short film spot explaining Pesinet’s service, to be translated into the local language and used as a rich media support to educate illiterate mothers about how to benefit from Djantoli child monitoring service and essential preventative health practices for their children.
  2. A longer film in French and English used to communicate to the international community on Pesinet’s innovative intervention, in order to mobilize support for its activities in the field.

We are asking for your support to fund his travel expenses and a small stipend so that he can produce these essential materials for us.

We need to raise $1,800 by October 2, 2013 for this project.

Please help us promote our innovative mobile health service for children in Burkina Faso.
