All over the globe individuals are developing innovative ideas that can solve some of the world’s thorniest and hardest issues.
Why we care: Social enterprise organizations are using creative solutions to support girls and women but they need help with funding.
How we are solving this: Sponsoring a global competition for the best ideas to solve challenges facing girls and women.
Women Deliver partnered with Echoing Green to find 25 amazing ideas for problems affecting girls and women from social enterprises that have been in operation for less than two years. Of these 25, ten were chosen by more than 13,500 votes casted online. Ideas vary from converting steel shipping containers into maternity clinics in developing countries to educating teens about the fight against sex trafficking.
These ideas come from the following organizations:
- Black Girls Code – USA and Africa
- Educate2Envision International – Honduras
- G3 Box – Kenya
- Global Health Media Project
- New Incentives – Nigeria, Kenya, Malawi, India, Bangladesh, and Cambodia
- Teen Revolt – United States
- Torath Production – Qatar and Middle East North Africa region
- VOICE 4 Girls – India
- Wedu – Cambodia, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Thailand
- Woman to Woman Foundation – Uganda
All received scholarships to attend and participate in the Women Deliver 2013 conference, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in May 2013, where they pitched their ideas to a panel of judges. The top three will be awarded seed grants of $5,000.
