American Friends of ZanaAfrica
Did you know that sanitary pads are a key reason girls drop out of school? Yes, across Africa it has been shown that providing pads and health education wins back 6 weeks of school each year for a girl – a crucial intervention that can not only prevent drop-outs, but help her unlock her potential with dignity and confidence.
ZanaAfrica is a social enterprise that helps women thrive by offering a basic human right: affordable, directly accessible, eco-responsible sanitary pads and health education, starting in Kenya and East Africa.
Since 2008 we have served 10,000 girls with pads, underwear, and related health education. From 2020 we will directly support 3M females in the base of pyramid across East Africa, to sustainably win back 5M school days, 2M work hours, and $1M into local communities.
